Optimax oil or fuel leak

I noticed oil dripping from the top side of the lower unit. At first I assumed that it was gear oil. Assuming that water was in the oil the level would be high enough to leak. I changed the lower unit oil and there was some water in the oil. I replaced the plug o rings aswell. After filling to the proper level, oil still leaks from the top, front side of the lower unit ( above the vent fill plug). If this is oil for the oil injection, does it mean I have a bad injector? I have no warning lights or horn, the motor runs fine. Should I even be concerned. I know older 2 strokes leak fuel/oil but injection systems should be open or closed right? any help would be great. Thanks (1998 200 optimax)

If I am reading correctly...it sounds like the shifter seal is leaking. OR the D/S seal is leaking...either way..it must be corrected.

TMD

Would either of those seals leak even if the motor is static? The lower unit oil level is well below the spot leaking.

Drop the L/U and inspect the seal below the water pump.

Re: Optimax oil or fuel leak

After looking some more I believe it's not lower unit oil. It's premix without any fuel in it. I can't find any leaks under the cowling. the oil resivor is full and there's no leaks. it must be leaking into a cylinder then down the exhaust. does this mean a fuel injector is stuck open, and should I worry about it? I get 1 drop in about 24 hours? Thanks again.
