When primed, fuel leaks through the exhaust like Niagra Falls. Its a 1974 Mercury outboard 150hp.

I checked needle valves (when kept closed manually they do not allow fuel to drip), I adjusted valve levers to the specs in book, floats don't get stuck when pressed into bowl using a screwdriver, etc, float springs are within spec.

Can floats themselves go bad (they look to be the originals)? They are still bouyant though perhaps they are saturated a little too much? Or could it be the float springs? I really don't know where to look next! What else can it be? The engine would otherwise run very well fuel is just gushing out the exhaust.

Thank you!

perhaps the check valves in the pump are allowing
fuel to run back into carb? get a manual at bottom
of this page or local library. get new carb kits
and new pump kits, follow the manual and you should
be all set.
good luck,
M.Y.
