I just purchased my first boat its a 1985 bayliner bass trophy with a 93 120hp force. (I don't have much money all I can afford). To make it short I took it out today and it ran great wide open for about a half hour then when I trimmed it down and gave it full throttle it was running fine and then it happened!! It started cutting out (like no power to the engine), when I went back down to lower rpm it ran fine, I tried to open it up again and then the engine shut down when I tried to start it, it seemed like the battery was low and it would not turn over. I parked it a the dock and after 15 minutes and alot of tries it started and I put it back on the trailer and headed home. Now it starts fine idles smooth but I'm afraid to take it out again. Anybody have any ideas on what it could be. Oh one last thing when I took the engine cover off and cranked it over the part that lifts up and turns the fly wheel would pop up and engage but it seemed like not enough power to turn the flywheel. I need help  ....Sorry for the long post.

Welcome to this site F.T. The problem you have is minor to what all most fishermen post on this site, so your problem should be easy to fix.
That thing that turns your flywheel is callad a starter. Its just like any lawn mower, car, truck, or truck.
The starter takes power from your battery when the motor is not running just to get it started. Once the motor is running, the motor will recharge your battery from that one use in using your starter. If the motor fails to start, and you keep engaging the starter, all thats going to happen is your gonna drain your battery. Thats propabbly the cause of your weak starter.
O.K. Back to your throttle problem. Sounds to me you have a minor fuel problem. Before you attempt to tear anything apart, go to your local NAPA store, and purchase a can of Sea Foam Deep Creep. Take your spark plugs out and spray a good amount in your cylinders. Let set for an hour to over night. Before you put your plugs back in, inspect them for any type of damage. Then start your motor, and spray a good amount in your carborators and watch all kinds of nasty stuff blow out your exaust.
Let us know how it goes.

By the way, this is your first boat right? Whenever you run your motor out of the water, you do run water through your lower unit right? Do not attempt to run your motor without muffs when not in water.

It sounds like your stator is giving you trouble.

It's the large black or red...most likely black circular thing under the flywheel.

They black ones are prone to break down and should be replaced.

This is the case if you are running with Mercury Ignition. Do you have a large box on the motor with wires running to it?...They are attached to the box with 3/8 nuts.

TMD

I do not run the boat without muffs, I learned that one the hard way....lol.. I do have what looks like a circuit board on my engine..I ran the boat today at aroung 4100 to 4300 rpm and it ran great, the onlt thing I did was give it some fresh gas and oil. The question I have is that could bad gas make the engine cut out like there is no power (electrical) getting to it? I have been to 4 stores and cannot find that sea foam hellpppppppppppp :)

I cant believe that your having that much trouble in finding sea foam.
2 cycle fuel breaks down in 3-4 months loosing its octain. That may have been your problem.

You should be able to find Seafoam in any Napa store, but almost nowhere else. Even if it starts working again just great some Seafoam would be a really good idea.
