I have a 70hp that is freezing up. When I turn the key the motor turns over to a certain point then stops. I can shift it into gear and turn it back to unlock it, but it just keeps going back to the same spot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
We need more info on engine yr serial #??????
Have you taken all plugs out ?
really need more history behind this to help!
more than likely something internal ,
If needed you can drop the lower un to see if its
in the power head or the lu.
when trying to spin it does the prop spin?

Rich
From your question I would have go guess either something in your gearcase is damaged..ie broken teeth on a gear...or you have internal damage within the block. Broken rod...damaged piston ect.

TMD
I'm not too sure on serial #'s or year of motor but I can get that later this evening.
I pulled the plugs and have compression at all cylinders, so I'll look closer into the gear case.
