Re: FLYWHEEL MAGNETS

hello again
mostly by eliminating all the rest. if the stator, switch box and trigger have all been replaced with known good ones I would suspect the kill circuit is remaining grounded.
Try to find the black wire with a yellow stipe at the pack. dissconect it and try to test the spark again. if still no spark I would stat at the beginning with my ign trouble shooting procedures. I have never seen bad mags on that type motor. some early looper OMC had bad magnets on the non vented flywheels . the flywheel is very expensive so I would try to eleminate all else.good luck and post me again about your trouble shooting methods

Re: FLYWHEEL MAGNETS

Check for rust as they may not be triggering the stator points. You can lightly sand the rust off if you want.

CanadianZ

Re: FLYWHEEL MAGNETS

ok you say sand off rust on the magnets or stator because the stator is new but the flywheel is painted black under the bottom but no rust? thanks rob!!

Re: FLYWHEEL MAGNETS

are the magnets cracked? flying off in chunks? then they're probably bad..
