98 Merfc 25 HP Bigfoot...reversed polarity

Ok..not smart..but...it was 104 degrees out and I was goofy. Inadvertabtly reversed polarity on the terminal connects and saw a puff of white smoke come up through the cowling. What most likely fried?<br /><br />The two wires coming from the throttle/shift connect to what?<br /><br />Ever had one of those days?...lol

Are you refering to the battery connections? If so you probebly blew your voltage regulator. 2.5x2.5 in square electronic component with Yellow, grey and red wires.<br /><br />TMD

Thanks Doc. Is there a simple voltmeter test I can make to determine if that's the cause?<br /><br />Makes sense since that is where the lead to directly into.<br /><br />Also, on the throttle/shift when you move into forward gear it engages a connection...the two wires are not connected to anything..what do they do...where should they be connected too?<br /><br />Thanks again!!<br /><br />Coop
