I have had a steady horn blow since I came back from fishing in brackish water.I flushed the engine the next day when I got home. I assume that maybe some sand or salt fouled up the cooling system. I took a water hose and back washed the line from the exit line, and the water just began to shoot out a steady stream, after I started it with the ears for running it on dry land with a water source, until I did that, the pressure just did not seem that great. Could I have a problem with the thermostat? maybe it is not opening up due to some (trash)that might be blocking up something. Also, I just learned that most suggest that you change the impeller, and i have not done so since I bought the boat several years ago. John

The factory advises annual water pump service. With average use, you might be able stretch that to 3 years. 5 years is pushing your luck, and longer is really really bad. And that doesn't even take into account sucking in sand and stuff which happens.

Replace impeller and check T-Stat. I would just replace the T-Stat if it's been awhile for peace of mind, although if in fresh water they rarely fail. Remove lower unit and T-stat and flush it through the water tube in the lower unit using a hose. Should have good flow out the T-stat hole.

Hey Guys, Thanks for your responses. As soon as the weather breaks, I will get to checking the system. The $32 question is how to go about emoving the lower unit, but I am sure you will rec' getting a manual, so I will. The other concern is water getting into my gear case, for oil is creamy, and what seals might be worn to cause such a headacche... So, If I can not make much sense out of the manual, I will be sure to Thank God for you guy's and tune in to all of you!.John
