115hp lower unit removal

where is the shift linkage on this motor. 1977 inline 6 115hp, is it the thing with a lil arm just under the bottom carb, if so, how in the heck do you get that off? i removed the bolt, but the arm is still connected. this is my first merc and i like it a lot, just got yesterday....<br />does the lower unit drop down at all like the evinrudes?they drop about an inch before you have to remove anything...<br /><br />please... lemme know.. and thanks

All you have to do is remove all bolts be sure its in not in gear there after you take the trim tab off it should have a bolt under it you need to remove that bolt there is another bolt in the vary rear of the unit then shake the lower unit back and fourth it should come out

Just make sure you remove all 6 of them. One on top in the frone, 2 (One on each side on top, 2 (One on each side under and the one under the trim tab. Should slide right off with just a little wiggling.<br /><br />Craig

she is done, what a relief. im used to eveinrudes and those jap engines with shift linkages and stuff. whew
