Hi guys,

I hope somebody can help me. I bought an used Mercury Outboard with HP 50 (50 ELPTO) from 1999.

After starting my Mercury Outboard I looked for a steady stream of water coming out anywhere but i did not found any hole or whatever. Is this ok or is something wrong with my outboard?

And it looks as if I need new spark plugs. Anybody knows which kind of spark plugs I need? And mayby someone knows where I can buy it in Germany?

I am also looking for a service manual and/or a repair guide because I want to check and track problems by myself. Any ideas from where I can get the manual/the repair guide. First choice for buying is Germany, second Europe...

Thank you in advance for any hints.

Kind regards
yannik_noah

As far as I know the European base for Mercury is Belgium but finding a good local agent in Europe including the U.K is not easy, As a Merc owner you have done the most important thing, you have found this site, welcome aboard....By the way if you have no water coming out do not start your engine untill you have your pump checked out, very important!!

Regards Keith

Don't know any Merc workshops in Deutschland but you can find your spark plugs here:
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/watercraft/make.asp?table=toutboard

In Denmark we have a VERY skilled Merc workshop but I'm not sure they like to do mail order.

They rank so high among boaters, that a used boat with a powerplant maintained by those fellas sells for a higher price!

Website (Danish only) http://www.tritonmarine.dk/

Hello JohnBates, KeithyB, Klausdk and UU.
Thank you very much for your quick replies. Your answers are very appreciated : )

JohnBates: You mentioned to check out my pump. Am I right if I guess that I can find the pump in the leg? How I can find that the pump works? I some forum replies guys mentioned the impeller...Could it be that this impeller is broken?

Kind regards
Yannik_Noah
