Re: changing my prop
Is the nut setting into a washer that has tabs folded down between knobs on the back of the prop? If so you need to bend the tabs back up first. I use a hook tool to pull the tabs up. The nut that holds the prop in place just has to be snug. I never have to fight to get mine off.

I'm not sure if your 90 is diffent, but my 1982 150 and my 1994 200 both have the prop secured the same way.

You should be able to hold the prop and loosen the nut with a long wrench or breaker bar. If not just use a block of wood between the blades to wedge it in place against the lower unit. Of course you have to bend up the tabs of the lock washer first. I usually replace the nut and washer when changing a prop, unless I am out on the water trying three or four different props. then I'll use a new washer and nut after I pick the best prop for the boat and motor.
