connecting 70 hp merc. to battery

hi there. can anyone explaine me how to connect my merc. to the battery? I´ve got 1 wire coming out of motor. I think I need to put this to + and then ground - to the fuel tank. is my idea on track??

If you want the fire works go a head. The positive side goes to the starter and the negitive goes to the power hear. Never put the fuel tank in a circuit

But it's still the 4th of July weekend. We Need More Fireworks!<br /><br />The fuel tank is grounded to prevent static electricity sparks from blowing you up. The Negative cable should lead to a bolt on the motor's powerhead.<br /><br />Just a bit of clarification, the Positive lead goes to the start solenoid which connects + to the starter when it's activated. Also, Red to Positive, Black to Negative. You'd be amazed at how many people think Black is Hot in my house, so it must go to the +. WRONG!
