mercury 40 hp engine accessory compatabiltiy

hi, i am selling parts off of a mercury 2 cylinder 40 hp outboard motor.i need to know what other motors the motor accessories are compatable with?it looks like it is from the 1980s .the serial number is 4040207.any help ou could give would be greatly appreciated.<br />thanks,<br />clauton

Most of the same parts fit the 35's of the same era. Gearcase should also fit a 50Hp 4-cylinder. Even the 4-cylinder 40's and 45's right up until they stopped making them around the turn of the century. So, what did you get in it's place? (IMHO those were real wimpy 40s.)

If thats the case ,, is it possable to bolt a 50 HP 4 cylinder powerhead on a 40 HP leg ?
