I have a beep beep alarm even with the engine not running and oil reservoir full. I disconnected the blue bullet wires located under the starter (from the low oil sensor?) and the alarm stops. Does this mean the sensor in the oil reservoir is bad? If this is the problem can I take the oil reservoir off and replace the sensor or is it built into the tank requiring replacing entire oil reservoir? Thanks very much for a response.

Re: Merc 115 oil alarm

There was a batch of these sensors in the mid 90's that were bad from the factory. I replaced a bunch of them. I can't remember if there was a service bulletin released. The sensor is available as a seperate item. If you post your engines serial number, not the year, I can give you the part number.

Chris...............

Chris -- thanks very much -- I will get the serial number and appreciate it if you can get me a part number. Is it fairly easy to replace? I feel better after your reply and also I checked the 2 sensor (blue) wires and there is continuity so I believe that means the sensor is bad and acting like the oil is low in the reservoir.
