Normal Wear on Propshaft?

What is considered a normal amount of wear on the propshaft, where the propshaft seals ride? My propshaft (1963 Merc 1000) seems to have a small amount of wear, but the seals seem to ride tight to it. The portion of the shaft where the seals ride is in the center of the photo, just to the right of the step-up in diameter.<br /><br />

Unless this thing is an antique...none....You could be running in extremely silty conditions and or not rinsing motor properly if your running in salt water or line and other garbage is fouling the shaft and not being checked or removed. I see some serious pitting there too...

Would a speedi-sleeve work in this application?
