Could a Fuel Hose and Primer cause this???

I trailered my boat up to Keuka Lake (Finger Lake) in NY and the motor started but was running very rough and would keep stalling. Finally, I got it to idle and revved the motor back and forth between 1k and 3k. The motor seemed to be running very rich. When I tried to put it into gear , the motor would stall. Finally, I got it in gear and the motor seemed to be running fine. I got it up to about 5k rpm's and ran it there for about 5 seconds and it seemed to run out of fuel. I was at wits end, so I took the fuel hose and primer bulb off of my 9.9hp merc and the 60hp merc ran great. Could the Fuel hose really have caused this? Why?

You bet!

You could have leaky connectors. If gas leaks out when you squeeze the bulb at either connector, it's leaking air into it while it's running.

Could also be the primer bulb. Some have plastic shuttle check valves that distort and fail. The good ones have springs and balls that are much more reliable. I'd get a new fuel line assembly from a dealer. Avoid the aftermarket ones like the plague. Because they Are a Plague. They don't work or last worth a you-know-what.

Had a Tempo fuel bulb with bad check valves and it drove me crazy trying to troubleshoot a 55hp Evinrude. Bulb would pump up hard as a rock but no fuel into the motor. New bulb solved the problem.
