can anyone tell me what would cause a voltage regulator to go bad? mariner 150 efi 40 amp

Poor battery connections come immediatly to mind.

okanother question ,when a volt reg goes bad ,what<br />what would be the next thing that would follow ,like stator, ecu , switch boxes...?thanks

Any of those.Keep in mind ,when you you get yourself in a low voltage/poor amp situation ,you are makeing those components work outside the sphere they were designed to work in .Stator windings overheat,switchbox SCRs cook themselves,starters work way harder than they need to,tilt relays often develop a mind of their own.Bottom line is poor battery connections or a crappy battery can really blow an otherwise fun season.
