What I have came up with so far is that Hooter props were made in the 70's by G&R Propeller. The props were all 3 bladed stainless. They are not around anymore. There is no way to tell size unless you know what to look for. Im thinking the numbers on the side might be a ratio or code, somethink like that.I am not sure of the weight of my boat.I would say 1200to1500lbs the boat is rated for 5 persons or 800lbs max HP is 150.I have had 5 people in the boat and it still runs like a scalded dog.But under normal fishing 2 people me my self am a big man 375to390lbs and the guys that go with me are 280to300lbs "we come from good breading stock" LOL.I dont know the top speed I don't have a speedometer on the boat.It rides great, nice and smooth once you trim the motor up its a little stiff in the stearing, but I dont have hydro.stearing either just 2 cables. But what I am looking for is a good alaround prop out the hole and for speed any suggestions on size. Thanks Joe

Re: For KCLOST"HOOTER PROP"

Ok, The thing I like about the prop you have on the boat right now is the fact that you are reaching 6000 rpms at WOT and I assume that is with you and a friend (quite a bit of weight) :D

That much weight will affect your hole shot some... So assuming you have the motor tilted all the way down when shooting out of the hole the most logical step is to lower the pitch of your prop. But that will raise your WOT rpm above your proper range. approx 200 rpm increase for every less inch of pitch in the prop.

Since we don't know the pitch of your prop... I'll give you a suggestion with no guarantees...
Go to a four blade prop, this will give you more bite on the hole shot... I'd start with a 23-24P 4-blade Trophy for instance....

If you live anywhere near KC, I'll let you borrow mine and see if it works both on the hole shot and WOT rpm with your rig...

By the way, I also have a hooter prop that is suppose to be 24P, which I purchased off of ebay. I'll take a look at it tonight and see if the numbers off of it make any sense. AND, I just thought of something!!!!! If your prop is like mine it probably doesn't have any exhaust ventilation holes near the leading edge of the blades. If not, that can hinder a good hole shot! With holes, the prop is allowed to spin much faster at startup dramatically improving hole shot. Let me know if yours has vent holes...

A Trophy prop by the way has vent holes as well as Laser's, and most others...

Re: For KCLOST"HOOTER PROP"

Here's what vent holes do...

When your boat accelerates, exhaust is drawn
out of the vent hole located behind each
propeller blade. When the next blade strikes
this aerated water, it pushes through the aerated water easier than it would
through "solid" water. By controlling the amount of aerated water, you can pretty
much dictate how quickly your engine rpm rises (hole shot). Once you're on plane, the water
flows over the vent holes and seals in the exhaust. This allows the propeller to
again operate in solid, non-aerated water (WOT).

To sum up, your prop isn't the best for your application...

Re: For KCLOST"HOOTER PROP"

I've checked my hooter prop and there are no numbers on it that I can find... So I'm sorry that I can't help you there...

But I really think your prop (assuming it's like mine without vent holes) is not what you should have. There is a process to drill vent holes in props to achieve the desired effect as mentioned above. Let me know if you are interested. For a replacement, a 24P Trophy 4-blade is my recommendation, but others will work very well also.. Lazer 2 24P 3-blade, Turbo's, etc...

Let me know if you want to try mine out...
