1988 mariner "m90", where is my serial #

hi, im guessing its a 1988 cause thats what it says on the starter. the motor was repainted by the last owners and the serial number plate is long gone.<br /><br />is the serial number anywhere on the block like it was with my old 1150?<br /><br />this is the 3 cylinder version

I have only seen serial numbers in two places, one on the mounting bracket which is likely where the missing plate was on your motor, and the second place in stamped on the powerhead itself, on the block. I found mine on the starboard side towards the back by the sparkplugs. It may be difficult to see if it has paint over it.
