Well folks, thats my question. My engine is a 72' 1150 was wondering just how much would need to be done to make it a 1350?

Bzzzzzzzzzzt!

If you have a **1970-1972** 1150 with the silver (not black) block, all you need to do is change the reed stops, main jets, and the little round plastic carb venturis.

It's still very invasive work to change the reed stops, easiest just to get a used set of 1500 reed blocks, but the cost is negligable if you gather up the parts.

-W

It does have a silver block Clams, im sure i read somewhere that the 1350 engine runs better fuel economy over a long run in compared to the 1150. I often wondered why everyone else who's engine i'd seen was painted black and mine was silver??? Hmmmm.

They started painting the "new" blocks black in 1972. The 1972 140 had the new block, the 1150 used up the leftover 1971 blocks. In '73 the 1150 had the new block and then everything Laddie said applies.

-W

Getting there it would seem. My block is in the machine shop at the moment having a broken boss on the exhaust side welded up and retapped. That surface will then be skimmed and I have ordered the new exhaust plates.

Waiting on a piston as one of mine was a little suspect but if all goes well i should be up and running within a month or two.

Optimism, optimism..... :)
