Hi all. Am new here,,,,great site! I have a Merc 850,,,,dont know the year or serial # right this minute, suffice to say that its sat for a few years, but ran like a champ before. The carbs no doubt need to be rebuilt fuel pump also. I have had mechanics and boat shops tell me to get rid of it and or they wont work on it for fear of breaking something they cant replace. For instance apparently there is some iginition component, condensor or coil that cant be had any more,,,,,any thoughts? maybe its that stator thing. I am wondering about some new wires cap and rotor also this time around.Wouldnt want to forget that timing belt and water pump,,,since they are probably dried out now.

This thing is a six cylinder,,,was there a four cyl version?
Hmm last I recall I drained the lowr end and milk came out,,,,so maybe to take the prop off and replace some seals,,,,,,,hopefully

One more thing,,,,the last fellow to do a link and sync.....botched it big time. Is this a thing a home mech can do?

Anyway, your thoughts and comment on any and all would be greatly appreciated
