1979 6chl merc 115 wiring problem

hi guys i am pretty good at wiring but i need a little guidance merc 115 1979 i am trying to hook up a binacle controll it has <br />2 yellow w/ red stripe i think that the ignition <br />1 green w white stripe <br />1 blue w/white stripe<br />1 red with black stripe <br />now the fun part the motor has <br />2 yellow<br />1 pink <br />2 white <br />1 green <br />1 purple any ideas would be great i have a book but its not to helpfull thanks anthony NY

Yellow/Red is the Start circuit<br />(Those leads probably go to a Neutral switch on the throttle/shift)<br />Green/White is Trim Down<br />Blue/White is Trim Up<br />Red is Battery +<br /><br />Motor:<br />Yellow leads go to the Rectifier AC terminals<br />Pink would be for the Kill Circuit (kills spark when grounded)<br />White escapes me, but probably trigger wires. <br />Green is Choke?<br />Purple is 12vdc + with key on, or it's a Trigger wire (probably).

Important question... 1979 was the changeover year. Does you motor use a distributor ignition or is it the newer ADI type? Big difference in ignition wiring between the two.<br /><br />-W

no it does not have a distributor but i think i figured it out there are two yellow wires from the motor and two from the control engine turns right over in the start position when mtr is in neutral the choke is pink from the engine thanks for all your help guys this sight is the best <br /><br />anthony NY
