oil inj. tank / cowl seal 4 cylinder Merc 40's

Fellow Merc lovers ,<br />Theres a seal that goes around the oil inj. tank that seals water out of top of cover, it's a $ 5 part..<br />Mines been missing since I got my engine last year.<br />Mercury dealer says NLA as does parts express website..<br />Does anyone have any idea if these are still available anywhere or maybe tips on how to make one ?? <br />Thanks,<br />Alan

Ive got a similar problem with my 40hp Mariner (same motor). This link still shows them as available but I havn't tried to order one yet. I was unable to post the entire link here for some reason. If you are unable tyo find the part listing, email me rodc@sympatico.ca and I can email the complete link to you. If they are unavailable I am going to use the closed cell adhesive backed foam gasketing that is used for pickup truck camper seals. It is available in many thicknesses and widths. They are polyethylene and should be resistant to gas, oil etc.<br /><br /> http://www.dougrussell.com
