7.5 hp merc idle problem.....

Please help i have a 7.5 hp merc that seems to idle and run fine until I put the motor cover back on and then it starts to idle rough and die. It seems to not be getting enough air in the crb. any ideas thx

Some engines suck exhaust in the front(swivel shaft area) or leak at the base gasket and can't idle with the exhaust contamention
