what size are my nuts?

1981 merc 40hp 2 cylinder.<br /><br />i lost the nuts that hold the carb on. what size is the threads on those studs. im at my witts end. ive been to boaters world, home depot, lowes, west marine and even my buddys garage. what freeking size are they!?!?!?!?!?!<br /><br />i have some 5/16 x 18 nuts, but the thread size is different. ive pretty much figured out the 5/16 part, but what is the freekin' thread size, and if you have 2 spare ones, please send them my way! <br /><br /><br />ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahahahaha

5/16 UNF(24 tpi). Any reasonable hardware shop should be able to help you out.
