How do I wire my tach.

The boat is A thundercraft Astro 165 ss. With A 1975 mercury 1500 150 H.P. inline 6. The wires from the tach have been cut off about 3 ft long. Where do they go? Thanks,Tim mathis@bellsouth.net

The wiring diagram is in the manual for the old facotry Merc tachs. If using a newer one the pickup goes to one side of the stator.<br /><br />-W

Four wires on a tach: 1) +12V switched (key on), 2) ground, 3) Sense - tach signal from engine 4) 12V from light switch for instrument light.

Up..., If the Tach is of recent vintage, set it to the merc. setting on the back (12 pole) and connect the sender wire to one of the stator wires, at the rectifier. The rectifier is usually located under the switchbox.
