merc 50 hp waterpump replacement

Please need help on the process to remove and replace the waterpaump on 84 50 hp merc outboard?<br />picture would help... took three bolts and trim boat out but lower unit still is tight? Any help would be great.

theres a hidden bolt, Theres a plastic cap you pry off * use an extension with a long socket ..<br />Also theres one that goes into the zinc I believe..

to clarify what scali said,there's a hidden bolt under the zinc trim tab. You have to remove the plastic cap on the mid-section above the zinc, remove the the zinc and then you can access the hidden bolt.

on the lower unit above the zinc is the plastic cap, remove it bolts in there, then check the zinc I believe theres a bolt there that comes out

OK i took out the trim bolt and the the nut close to it and there are two located on top of the lower unit?? But the sucker is still tight.<br />I took a rubber mallet and taped all around but<br />dont know man.....

graves..... i just replaced my water pump on my 50 merc. That lower end was a pain to get off. Make sure you have all 5 bolts taken off then see if you can start a good piece of wood wedge between the two halves. Work your way around the lower half then it should drop. I also think you are suppost to have the trans in forward gear. good luck<br />Mike
