Ok, i posted last week about my 1984 90hp merc having intermittent problems, well i rebuilt carbs, changed fuel lines, changed fuel tanks, bulb, etc. I thought I had problem fixed, ran great for two days, coming back tonight running wot, it bogged again, barely made it back to dock, now whenever I start it I am getting a white greasy substance coming from exhaust, looks like small pieces of cottage cheese almost,I noticed it a little bit before I changed tanks and figured it was old stabilizer that had gelled, which is why I switched tanks, but now I am clueless, motor running like crap with this greasy substance coming from exhaust!!! Fresh fuel, ran great for two days, now what?!Could I have a bad seal allowing lower unit fluid to somehow make it up into my motor? I am really lost here!

wanted to add that it doesn't even want to idle now. I pulled the plugs 1and2 were black and dry,3and4 were brown and dry,5and6 were black and wet. Did compression 140 on all except for #3 which was 115 but it has been like that for the last 4 years.

Check for spark on all cylinders. Sounds to me you have unburned fuel/oil mix comming out the the lower. Drain carb fuel bowls and check for water and or contamination.

took carbs off and drained bowls, no water or conyamination, so the stuff coming out is unburnt fuel mix? Could it be water is mixing with it from somewhere?

Hi Photoguy66,
Sounds like you have an internal water leak into the combustion area of 1 or more cyl's,, possible entry points are lower Crankshaft seal, exhaust side plate gaskets, cracked block, broken reed valve, run it in a tank check your plugs for a white colour or water droplets....
Cheers

was wondering, if it were water in the cylinders, then wouldn't it be running rough all the time? It ran fine after rebuilding the carbs for two days, then it started all over again. when I pulled the plugs they were either brown or black with no water droplets. I did use a new oil I never used before, could it be the oil is bad?
