1970 mercury 4cylinder

im having problems with my bottom two cylinders. they seem to not be working. i have replaced plugs, wires, and ign. coils. could it possibly be the trigger or stator.i have check compression. it has 120 on all 4 cylinders. please help thanks

Howdy, Jake.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. :) <br /><br />Could be the trigger or stator. Could also be carb problems.<br /><br />Do you have spark on all four?<br /><br />You will save yourself a lot of bux and aggravation if you get a manual and troubleshoot instead of replacing parts and hoping that will fix it.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

i do not have spark on the bottom two cylinders.

Jake, when you say you have replaced coils, I must assume that the engine is ADI ign. with 4 coils, that makes it a 76 or newer engine? If it is, disconnect the orange or blk/ yellow wire from the switch box and then swap the red and red white wires and the blue and the blue white wires on the switch box, if the spark don't change and is still not on the bottom 2 cyl then it is the switch box but if it's now on the bottom 2 and not on the top 2 cyls. then its the stator---Bob :confused: It's really hard to trouble shoot a engine then you are not sure of the year and don't have a serial nunber
