Mercury motor need Model number

I recently bought a new used motor for my boat and its a 50 hp mercury. I can find the s/n 6098030 but no model number, the prev owner didn't know what year it was so was wondering if someone could tell me something about it?

Mercury uses the serial number for identification.<br />Yours is a 1982.
