There are 2 Stators for my serial no. which one do I need?

Hi, I have a 2004 Mercury 9.9hp 2-stroke outboard and when I entered my serial number in the Mercury Express parts service I am presented with 2 Stator options, a Design 1 or a Design 2 - same price. I appreciate that this outboard model can feature an electric start and wondered whether this was relevant, though if I entered the serial number I thought the system might limit the options to the one I need - but - how do I find out which one I need to buy?

When looking at the switch box on the two differant systems you can tell the black stator from the re, ck them in the parts book and you will see the differance in the two
