I had a cooling problem fixed under warranty, since getting it back from the dealer the motor hesitates badly when coming off the throttle hard then throttling up again. It runs good at constant RPM and the pick up is ok in the upper rev range.

The dealer is unable to create the fault on their Dyno,

Any Ideas?

Have them test it in the Real world. Dyno testing isn't nearly as accurate as simply dumping the boat in the water and taking it for a test ride. Dyno's don't duplicate exhaust backpressure, and therefore are one baby step above totally useless when fine tuning an outboard motor, or diagnosing a performance problem. But when you're not on the water, you do what you can and hope for the best.

I will ask the question. I am about an hour away for the nearest slipway, but I think it will be the only way the dealer takes this issue seriously.

I have the same problem with a carburated 1999 40 h.p. 4 stroke. MAKES ME NUTS!! Doesn't seem like the technicians know anything either at $90 an hour!!

I know what you mean. The frustrating thing for me was that it ran fine until the dealer took the power head off to fix the blocked water pipe. The engine used to be so smooth!!

At last all is OK now. It was put down to a sticking plunger inside the fuel pump.

Runs smooth and as it should. 100 hours from new this motor has done, cooling problem (collapsed feed pipe) and and a fuel pump problem. I am not impressed.
