84 Mariner Power Trim

The motor trims down with no problem, but will not trim up. Doesn't slowly ease down either.<br />When I try to trim it up, I hear a click and<br />does nothing.<br />Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Ruebanks, It may be that the "Up" trim solenoid is either defective or not receiving proper voltage. You can jumper the solenoid (connect battery lead to positive side of solenoid primary winding) to see if the motor runs. If it runs and the motor tilts up, check the voltage and ground connections to the solenoid. If they are good, it is likely the solenoid is bad.

Chris1956, I checked both up and down solenoid connections and found the positive side connection on the up trim solenoid to be corroded and loose. I cleaned it and reterminated the battery lead and it works great!<br />Thanks again, I appreciate it!!
