Beep beep beep beep, as long as the engine is running. I was running full throttle and my oil alarm went off. I immediatly shut er down but haven't solved the problem yet. Oil in both tanks is fine, it's bled from the cap on the reservoir on the motor. I bought a manual and done some testing. Unplugged the two blue wires from the cap and the motion sensor, still alarms. I think I have illiminated the heat sensors by un-grounding them (removing the black from the sensor on the left head) and still alarms. After reading through some of these posts I am wondering if it is the alarm module or the "switch box" and how I could detemine for sure. Thanks in advance for any help :D

I had the same problem with my 1992 Merc. Blackmax 150. In my case it was the switchbox that was the problem. They can be tested but you need a DVA to check it. Seilermarine in Florida has new switchboxes for $135 shipping included. Thats the best deal I could find. Switch to premixed gas until you figure out the problem. Good luck, Joe.

Have you checked the driven shaft part of the oil pump assy? There's a rotation sensor incorporated in a bushing at the outer end of the shaft. I would also suggest, since you have a shop manual, to check the oil pump trouble shooting section. It gives excellant detail for checking the entire system.

Also, until you are totally certain the oiling system is working right, I would add oil to the gas.

Switched to 50:1 pre-mix and ran it for 2 minutes waiting for oil pump to pump oil into a cup............nothing! Pulled the pump and the driven gear and it looks like the plastic oil pump gear that is supposed to be on the crank is wore out. A melted piece of it was on the gear I pulled out + some shavings. Must have just went out because it was smoking when I fired it up, before any of the pre-mix could get in there, and there was oil in the line heading for the gas. Time to set it up for pre-mix from the boat tank I guess, going to need the boat in 1 week. I'll start another topic for that...thanks guys for helping :)

Pre-mix is one choice. I decided to put an aftermarket electronic pump drive on. This retains the oil alarms, uses the original pump. If your interested, let me know and I'll get you more info.

Found the info: Marine Solutions Inc. Electronic Oil Injection ... I bought it (there are several different models) from API Marine Sales in FL 954.938.5111. They are a wholesaler, ao you may have to purchase thru a dealer. I paid ~ $325 about a year ago ... easy install (1 to 2 hours max).

Wildeone,
Heck yes I am interested, I sure am not going to bother with trying to repair it (breading down the whole motor) or pay someone prob 1K to do it). I set it up for pre-mix (have to use it over the 4th) but after that I would love to put an electric pump on. I would do it this week if i had the parts!

I think the model you need is EOI-C, which is for carbed models. Note that resistor plugs must be installed (NGK BUZ8H for my motor).

I think API Marine normally stocks these units ... they FedExed the one to me ... had it in two days.

Good luck!
