Check your needle seats in the carbs. I had a similar problem caused by worn needle seat which would seat one minute then leak. This would cause heaps of excess fuel into the carb which then venturied into the motor. Although it has its risks I would remove the cowling and airbox off the carbs then run the engine briefly. If you can observe fuel pouring from the throat of any of the carbs with associated power loss then this could well be your problem. Be aware that this is not good procedure as if it is not the problem then you will be running dangerously lean.
Andy

I know the feeling with the shady dealers .Had to take it from one to another and the other had to do what the first one missed! Who can you trust?
I had to readjust my cables some too and that helped with the bogging out some on mine.
Good luck!

Sporadic problems are hard to find. Sometimes it's tough for a tech to find everything at one visit but just by doing my own trouble shooting I feel I have a pretty good handle on what's wrong with my motor when it acts up. The last time I had it at the shop, which was the next week after they "fixed" it for $250, they estimated another 3 hours labor to take the boat on the lake to trouble shoot. It was bogging down and maxed out at 2800rpm. The $120 an hour or $360 labor estimate gave me the incentive to try fixing it myself. I was fortunate in that the first thing I did was remove the carbs and found varnish flakes in one of them. Saved $360+ and learned a little more about outboards.
Jerry

Stopped at the dealer that I talked to by phone in april, he was recomended, did'nt think he could get it done by may. Went to back up. Sorry. He said he was still busy but looked at all my repair bills and said that it looked like the order he would have tried. He thought my motor is running lean, starving for fuel. Recomended putting different gas line on. Gave me one to try, would'nt take any money. Said to try it first. Pay him if it works or bring it back. He has all my busines from now on just because of his good attitude. Hope this idea works, gooing to try it today.
