bloody thing!!!

I am a new comer to boating and I wondered if you could help me.<br /><br />My Mercury 110 thunderbolt (9.8hp) 1966 model<br />Just will not fire up and I have checked everything that I could including fuel flow, plugs, wiring, the carb, and everything seems to be in order :mad:

Go to the Engine FAQs, Wolverine.<br /><br />"Outboard wont start" will tell you how to troubleshoot it.<br /><br />Good luck, and welcome to iboats. :)

1. You pull out the plugs.<br />2. Screw in compression gage.<br />3. Turn over. <br />4. Check all cylinders.(Lbs Psi)

You didn't mention if you have spark?. The engine needs fuel, air, spark, and compression and everything needs to happen at the proper time. Miss any one of these and you have a "no go situation". Simply "looking" at things doesn't mean they are ok. You need to actually make sure fuel is getting to the engine. You need to check that you have spark, etc.

There is a bright blue spark and compression there but it still won't fire up

Try to run it. Then pull A plug. What does it look like? Is it wet? dry? Then post! Tim.

I pulled the plug out but it was reasonably dry so that has got to be the jets so I will try it and let you know the outcome.<br />Thank you
