Re: 1977- 850/isolator

Thank you for the reply. Some people tell me because of a voltage drop, it wouldn't charge properly. My existing battery charges with the acc. installed now, at 15-16v. I am adding a radio and GPS this winter.

A isolater properly installed will charge the primary battery to about 14 to 14.5 volts and change to the number 2 battery

Where do I hook the lead from the Alt. term on the isolator?

Keep in mind that the alternator on that motor is pretty weak. That's why there's no regulator. It doesn't put out enough juice to need one. What kind of system draws do you have? Regarding wiring, the isolator will come with instructions.

You will have to disconnect the red wire at the rectifier and hook your wire there, we use a 8# wire to the isolater
