just acquired 1350 questions

place to look up serial # 31177071, year etc. it will run, but gas flowing out of top carb. haven't had a tower of power in 25 years, please give me some advice. i need control cables, battery cables, manual choke cable is broke, and no choke solenoid. this is just for starters.

Looks like it's gonna be a 1350 (135,0) 3036066 - 1971 6 cyl inline <br /><br />Probably should rebuild and clean the carbs.<br /><br />Control cables/Battery cables -iboats should have them...<br /><br />More info at:<br /><br />oldmercs.com/197071merc1350.htm

Most of them need an internal wiring harness and CDI electronics has them. They are on the net under Rapair Inc. I believe.

Do a compression test 1st. Also.. change the waterpump impeller and do a timing and sync as per my earlier post. Won't hurt to de-carb it once it's going good.<br /><br />Ebay is a good source for new/used parts for something that old too.<br /><br />-W

on this engine where is the water suppose to come out? i thought they had a pee hole.

It should have a little rubber hose out of the right rear.

sometimes it get's stoped up use a piece of wire or weed eater line to unclog. That is if the impeller is working.

that's what i want to know, if the impeller is working. it was suppose to be replaced 6 mos ago. have ordered manual. thanks

us southern people know all about the mud dobbers. this motor came from Kannapolis,NC. the hole was full of red clay. got good stream now.
