mercury outboard

I recently acquired a mercury outboard, it is somewhat damaged and the cover is missing, I am not sure what engine it is. The sn is :<br />9310/50 or maybe 9310750. And it is made in belgium.<br />It is a four cylinder electric start with two carbs and four ignition coils <br /><br />does anyone know what engine this might be?<br /><br />your help will be much appreciated!

What do you want to know about it? It's a 40-50 hp, classic cross flow Merc, derivative of the 1940's Mercury Mark 55. With the electonic ignition it tells me it is at the least the late 1980's vintage or later. About all I can say for now.<br /><br />Mark

Thank you, that is a good start. Now I might find it a lot easier to find a workshop manual that applies. <br /><br />The engine is damaged and a lot of little things are broken, but i first want to find out if the damage to the power head is serious or not. The cover on the sb side is punctured, but that is probably easy to replace...<br /><br />thanks for your help
