need to know year for 80 hp merc

i need to now the year for my 80 hp merc. dont know the sr # . its say thunderbolt ignition on the front. and on the side it says 800. i was told they only made theese a coulpe of years but not what year or years. and where can i get a wiring diagram. this motor has been previously rewired so the wire colors are all difrent. thanks. mp032881
