Re: carb adjustment on 87 xr2 150 merc?
on my xr2 150, there are no adjustments, only the jet sizes. pickup a manual if you don't already have one. I've been through my carbs twice in a month chasing idle gremlins. I'm new to the boat thing as well, but have picked up very quickly thanks to iboats and my manual.

while its running rough, squeeze your primer bulb to force fuel to the carbs. if it idles worse, it's getting fuel. if it idles better, change your fuel pump and filter.

the low speed jets might be a bit clogged. run a potent mixture of seafoam through it (remote fuel tank, 1 gallon or gas, 1 can of seafoam) and let her sit for a while to free up that junk.

I've still got a low idle running problem as well that's driving me bonkers. Those were the steps I went through first. I'm thinking i've got a rich oil mixture causing mine, as the pressure in the remote oil tank is still high, even several days after i take the boat out of the water, and it smokes worse than an old freight train.

My tilt/trim has a lever on the left side of the housing that i think is a "lock" to hold the motor up while you service. tilt up, hold the lock in place and trim down to rest the motor on the lock....this may not be right, but it's the only thing i can think of as to why it's there. doesn't seem functional for anything else.

Hope this helps.

Conn
