Engine life spand

Hi all,<br />I heard that the average boater put on about 50 hours on their boat each year. Now, say if this was true for a 2006 Mercruiser 135 hp 3.0 liter with an Alpha 1 and it will be very well cared for. Not knowing much about boat engines, I would like to know what is the longevity or life spand of this engine before needing major work or engine overhaul? Thanks.

With Proper Maintance,...........<br /><br />1500 to 3000hrs are Not Unheard of..........<br /><br />Abuse,+ Neglect kill More motors than Anything else.........
