115 yamaha 2-stroke '89.

Hello out there , great site . I'm running a yam'115 2 stroke (pre-mix) . I've had it just over a year and its been running great . Recently<br />when cruising at about 40-50km/hr , an alarm sounds and the engine seems to stall . I'm running a 50:1 gas oil mixture. Any theories .<br />P.S. I'm new to this business so be gentle...

you did'nt say whether it was the oil sensor alarm or the temp sensor alarm.was any water coming out of the tattle tale?.

hello<br /> well if the oil injection was properly removed or if this was not an oil injected motor to start with then no worries. the hull speed is insignificant to me as a tech. first thing to do is a complete cooling system maintenance. install a water pump kit not just an impeller. install new t-stats if they are more than 2 years old. install or at least clean the pressure relief valve grommet. this grommet usually causes problems only at idle speeds.if that will not cure the problem its time to remove the heads and covers and clean all the scale and sand and corrosion from all the head/block passages.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Hi Lads . Thanx for your replies . I know it's not an oil problem cos I make 100% sure my mixtures right . If the stream of water from the pee-hole is a good steady stream , does this mean the water pump and cooling is good or should I just go ahead with the changing of the t-stats and so on ?... To answer the first reply , the motors always been non oil injection .
