Louder Than Normal DF90

I have a 2001 Suzuki DF90 that runs great but a few months back I noticed it sounded louder than normal. When new and at idle you could barely hear it run, the pisser made more noise. Now it sounds significantly louder, comparable I would say to a 2 stroke but with the deeper four stroke sound. Since it is still under warranty I brought it in to get checked out. It cost me a hundred bucks because they said nothing is wrong. I do not believe this shop is very familiar with 4 stroke Suzuki's yet. Anyway, I suspect maybe an exhaust problem. Is is normal for exhaust to come out the hole next to the pisser? I would appreciate the help. Thanks

Did they do a cylinder leak down , check valve adjustment, plug in the computer for a dianostic check? Engine computer stores a lot of info, like overheat and how many times overheated.

They did a "diagnosis and test" for $131.39. Correction as listed on invoice: "We took cold and hot compression and leakdown tests, both tests are OK to spec. We hookked motor to computer and there were no service codes. We found nothing wrong with motor." Where do I go from here? Like I said, it seems to run fine except that it runs louder. The increase in sound level does not sound mechanical, it sounds like louder exhaust. When I noticed it was louder is when I first noticed exhaust coming from the small hole next to the pisser. There is no appreciable smoke from the hole just regular exhaust gas and exhaust noise. Is that normal. I did not notice if that was the case before this problem began. Thanyou

That is the exhaust relief and it is normal. You may have an intake air box which has a crack or has come away from the throttle body, although I doubt that would effect noise level at idle.

Thanks for the info. I did not mention but it is louder throughout the entire rpm range, not just idle.
