I have a 1988 suzuki DT55 which is getting a low oil signal and liminting the RPM's to about 2500. I have installed a new oil flow sensor, cleaned out the oil resevoir, and am currently running 50:1 premix in the gas tank. I am still getting the low oil warning light.

Wondering if I should take the oil injection off completly, and if so, how do I go about doing this?

Does your engine have an oil filter (may look like a puck in the oil line underneath the oil tank)? If so remove and replace it. If the oil filter cloggs with gelled oil you will trip the sensor.
edit
I checked the parts diagram at www.brownspoint.com and it looks like the filter is in the sensor assembly.

Does it have water flow sensor in the cylinder head? disconnect all of the sensors and try it. The low oil light is sometimes lit by one of the green lights and gives a false signal.

thanks for the options, I'm going to try them in the next couple of days and try to get back on the water this weekend to see if they remedy the situation.

I didn't find a water flow senor, but I also disconnected the wires coming from the oil resevoir level indicator, and the motor still is limited to about 2500 rpms.

The diagram for your motor from brownspoint shows that you have a cooling water sensor. Check it. I had the same problem with a 115hp. Went through what you are doing now with oil tank (eventually removed it). Finally traced it to the cooling water sensor. Replaced it and all was good in the world.

Replaced the cooling water sensor and now it runs perfect. Do you think I should also replace the thermostat? Thanks for all of your help!!

Nah, I wouldn't worry about the thermostat. Those water sensors seem to go bad pretty often. I've only had my 89 Suzi for 2 years and had to replace the sensor twice!
