The overheat buzzer comes on right at 3k rpm's. I have checked everything! The sensors, thermostats, spark plugs, changed the water pump. Checked the wiring for shorts. What else is there?

are you sure its overheat? do you get a visual indication on the tach? when the buzzer goes off imediatly remove the hood and dissconnect the pink wires at the cyl head. the side that makes the buzzer stop is the side that is getting hot if in fact it is a heat alarm.the motor is overdue for new t-stats and pressure valve grommet. however your symptoms normally indicate a cyl head or cooling system blockage. isolate if in fact its an overheat the determine which bank and you will be on your way.
good luck and keep posting

Re: 115 hp yamaha 2000 model

We had the same problem at 3500 RPm. I would check the pressure relief valve and make sure it is working. Also, if you run in much sand and silt, you might want to remove the headcovers to make sure there is no water passage block. I did all of the things you did and OCCASSIONALLY had a problem. The last thing I did was remove the small rubber gasket from the thermostats to allow slightly more water to flow. This didn't seem to make much sense but have not had a problem in the last year, and we have run many hours. Good luck!

I have tried it with the thermostats out, I tried it with both temp sensor unplugged, I checked both in water they are OK. I didn't see anything in the shop manual about a pressure relief valve.

by 3000 rpm the pressure valve is of no concern. it should be replaced every 200 hours as maint but the grommet is only an issue at low speeds. are you positive its an overheat and how did you verify its a temp switch?
good luck and keep posting

It's the buzzer under the console. I've checked everything dealing with temp and it checked good. I heard that the battery being weak would cause the buzzer to come on but I tried a brand new battery today and the buzzer still comes on. Once again, my buzzer comes on at about 3000 rpms. When I back off the throttle it quits. I bought a manual and have checked just about everything in the manual, still nothing.

I agree with Rodbolt aboout "pressure valve" at 3000 rpm.....probably is not an issue. If it quits buzzing as soon as you back off the throttle , it doesn't sound like an overheat. When we had the problem , it continued to buzz until the engine cooled.
