Hi! Just a couple of questions about a Yamaha 225hp.
1. Under the flywheel there is a stator(?) which generates power to the alternator and sends signals to the CDI. There are six wires going to the CDI(all white with some stripes). Anyone can tell me what kind of ohm resistance i shall measure there to ensure everything is ok?
2. There are 3 fuel pumps on it,or two pumps and a third one over those, which have two magnetic switches on it. What are these switches doing excactly?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Rod! I think it is a 91,was told a 94,but i think it is a 91 225.
I was told that the stator and the coilpulser had been a problem on yamaha, and i am going to measure these things out. i must be measuring it in ohms they said, but didnt know how much.
Have a motor that runs for an hour, then stops or wont work as it should. A man told me last night that i had to check the stator and these things under the flywheel, so i turn to you guys, for getting help with how many ohms i am supposed to measure. Thanks.

Re: Yamaha, to Rod or anyone.

most the time if its a stator its a charge coil issue. sometimes as the stator heats up the CDI output voltage falls below the voltage nessasary to induce a spark on the secondary side if the coil.
post me back some numbers or at least how many carbs it has.
good luck and keep posting

It has got 3 carbs, sending this from Norway, and i think our numbers is different from yours.
I have heard what you describe there, and i am interested in knowing how many ohms i am supposed to measure. Someone told me that changing it could solve my problem. Problem is it starts to trouble after a while.

Re: Yamaha, to Rod or anyone.

you will never find it with an ohm meter. it is only verifiable with a peak reading multimeter.wire leads w/r to w/g,w/b to w/l lis blue, w/y to w/br all should read about 320 ohms. the low speed br to red should be about740 ohms the high speed l to b/r about 69 ohms.crank position sensor should read about197 ohms.
I dont like ohms tests for this type problem. buy a stevens CD-77 meter and life will be good.
good luck and keep posting
