Power trim tilt unit

Have a 1986 Yamaha 40Hp motor would like to add a trim tilt unit to it ,My question can a trim &tilt unit off a 90Hp Yamaha model FTLJ ser#458370(power trim Tilt model 5h0234)work on my 40Hp if not what would Thanks in advance for any help

I know that you will have to change the complete bracket assembly to convert to tilt and trim. An aftermarket plate with it built in may be your best alternative.

Hello<br />I just did this job myself. I have a 86 50 etlj so it only had tilt. So after a week of e baying i got ahold of a 92 pro 50 midsection for $30 Only thing is i wished i got the C.d.i an timer base from him also. Do to the bigger TNT from the pro 50 it draws alot more juice an 86 50 charging system has a hard time keeping up.
