Just rigged an Intrepid with Suzuki 250 4 strokes and the Flywheel exploded after 14 hrs. Very scary! Anyone out there know or hear of anything like this ever happening?
Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />I guess the first question would be how many RPMs was it turning when it blew? The boat may have been improperly propped allowing too many RPMs, or if you're into jumping waves...<br /><br />Perhaps it was damaged during installation. How did you lift the motor? The weight of a 250 might be a bit much for lifting it by the flywheel. Especially if you had sideways pressure from lifting it to vertical from horizontal.
There is a recall on the ECU computer boxes on Suzuki V6 4-strokes that can cause problems if certain things happen just right. Was this motor included in the recall or was the ECU replaced already?
