My trim & tilt is working intermittantly, and confirmed I need the brushes replaced/replace the motor. Question-how does the Trim & tilt come off?
I removed the 4 side bolts and am working on the piston ram. Does it come out from the back side or do I need to remove the engine from the bracket? The manuals don't show how to remove? Thanks,

I have the same problem, but I had a sacrificial motor to remove T&T for practice. I had to take the bracket nearly apart to remove it, you need about 1/4" or better spread on the bracket mounts. As for the piston ram, the mechanic told me that the shock pin comes with the "heat and beat" method. I found OXY/MAPP did the trick to melt the nylon bushings.

Y-Jimmy:
Thanks; I got all the bolts out and found the TNT unit still wouldn't clear, as you said. So, just happened to try and get a 1/4" socket knuckle in behind the motor and got the 3rd bolt off. Would never been able to do it unless my brother helped me, and many hours. In contrast to an OMC 225 hp, one drops 2 bolts and the whole assembly drops right out. And to think I thought the Japs reverse engineered OMC...anyways, thanks your info was right on.
