Yamaha 150 4 stroke- Difficult to re-start after running

Have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke which starts and runs great when cold. However, after running for around an hour or more, and when hot, it is very difficult to re-start. It cranks, but does not fire. If you let it sit, and cool down, then it re-starts again just fine. Have tried different gas, checked fuel filter, water separator and battery/connections. Will try using a separate gas tank to see if this solves problem.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on what might cause it? Thanks in advance for your help! Marc

My f150 does the same thing. Using 12 gal plastic fuel tank. It is a bit scarey when you are out 10 miles in gulf stream that is pushing 6kts. Now won't shut off engine.

Yamaha has a fix that your dealers should be aware of. Good luck, especially with a 12gal tank offshore :D

Thanks for the responses. Called Yamaha today and they said there is "fix" for the F150 which is called a "Vapor Recovery Kit". Take it to a authorized Yamaha repair shop and they will install it for free. So mark n dark, you can get rid of that gas tank now, and we can finally start turning off our motors when we are offshore.
